Suitable and sufficient

A fire risk assessment (FRA) should be carried out by a competent person in order to ensure the responsible person for a building is taking the necessary steps to provide a safe building in terms of fire safety.

The law states that an FRA should be 'suitable and sufficient and carried out by someone who has the necessary training, qualifications, and experience to do so.

An FRA does not provide you with a pass or fail - they are working documents to help make your building safe from fire. The action plan will identify what you need to do to reduce the risk or to make improvements to the safety of the building.
